Just the other day one of my teachers made a comment that took me aback. He said that love is a choice, not an emotion. He continued with if love were an emotion God would divorce us multiple times daily.
Now, he is by no means saying that God doesn't love us; God loves us unconditionally. But I had never heard of love being thought of as a choice. Is it a choice? Well, people choose to love someone for the rest of their life by marrying them. That's a choice, right? And parents with kids know that it is hard to love their kids sometimes with the grief that we give them, yet they choose to love us, right? I'm starting to think it is a choice, but a choice in which you feel an emotion deep inside.
Thinking about it in this way, I'm so glad the Jesus choose to love me. Me, a girl who fails more times than ever. And yet with my failure he is still choosing to love me and love on me with the godly people he continues to bless me with and with His presence in my life.
God is SO good.
God chose to love you, too :)
